The phone is available in two configurations, coming with either 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
The reduced, £149 price is for the 128GB model. The 64GB version is only a tenner cheaper, which makes buying the bigger model a no-brainer.
The Redmi Note 9 runs Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 operating system, which is based on Android 10 and is powered by an Octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 chipset.
It also comes with some luxury features that you wouldn’t expect – and rarely see – on a budget smartphone, including a quadruple rear camera.
As our writer Tom Bruce explains in his Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 review: "The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 is incredible value for money.
"It has a large, good-quality FHD display, a fantastic quadruple-camera setup and it delivers performance that’s on par with one of its key competitors, the Motorola Moto G8 .
"Up until this point, we’ve held the Redmi Note 8T up as the pinnacle of budget smartphone technology.
"In most regards, the Redmi Note 9 is better – or at least as good – as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T that came before it. Ultimately, if you have less than £200 to spend and want to get the most from your money, then you’d be equally happy with either phone."
We are so enamoured with the handset, it was recently given an Expert Reviews Best Buy award.
